Mrs. Rice's behavior plan
Our class will use a "behavior stick" to monitor behavior. It is a tool that allows students to be rewarded for positive behavior, while discouraging negative behavior. Each student will have a clip with their name to move up and down the stick according to their behavior. Everyone will start their day on GREEN “Ready to Learn” and have the opportunity to move up for good choices or down when they are not following our classroom expectations. Each move up earns them Malcom Money. They can use this money to “purchase” prizes every other Friday.
We will also have a “class clip” this will be used as a classroom incentive. This will correlate to our Behavior Container. Students will add to our jar depending on how the class clip moves. Once the jar is full the students can vote on a class reward!
PURPLE “Outstanding” This level is for students who continue to display good behavior. You should be very proud of your child for reaching this level. 2 Malcom Dollars is rewarded for this level.
BLUE “Making Good Choices” Students move to this level when they are making great behavior choices and being a role model for their peers. 1 Malcom Dollar is earned.
GREEN “Ready to Learn” Every student will start the day on the Ready to Learn level. As the day goes on, clips can be moved up and down, based on behavior. This level is a good one to be on!
YELLOW “Think About It/Warning” A student will be moved to the Think About It level as a warning about his/her behavior and a reminder to follow the expectations.
Red “Teacher’s Choice” Students who continue to display poor behavior can move down to the Teacher’s Choice level. Here, the teacher can decide what action to take. Loss of recess might be an appropriate choice. The teacher may notify parents via note or phone call. A visit to the Principal’s office might also be in order depending on the offense.
